NBRDA, Niger Delta University Sign MoU to Advance Biotechnology Research, Innovation and Capacity Development

The National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Niger Delta University (NDU) to strengthen collaboration in biotechnology research, innovation, training and technology development.

Speaking during the signing ceremony on Tuesday in Abuja, the Director General of NBRDA, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, described the partnership as a collaboration that will strengthen ties between research institutions and academia while fostering innovation and scientific advancement for national development.

He added that the partnership will enable both institutions to leverage their strengths in advancing biotechnology research, developing innovative solutions and nurturing the next generation of scientists and innovators.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Niger Delta University, Prof. Allen Agih, expressed appreciation to NBRDA for the collaboration and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to building on the partnership to strengthen research, innovation and research capacity development.

He stated that the agreement would create new opportunities for academic staff and students to undertake cutting-edge research, benefit from access to advanced biotechnology facilities and participate in collaborative projects of national and international significance.

The MoU will also facilitate joint applications for grants and research funding from relevant national and international agencies while promoting innovation-driven solutions that support Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

Members of the NDU delegation included the Registrar, Dr. Emmanuel Amaegbe, and the Director of Research and Development, Dr. Engr. Oyinkepreye Lucky Bebeteidoh.
