The Bioresources Development Centre (BIODEC) KATSINA was established in 2012 by National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA) to promote the widespread implementation of Nigeria’s biotechnology program and achieve national acceptability of biotechnology products and services.
Bioresources Development Centre Katsina focuses on harnessing biological resources to promote sustainable development, improve livelihoods, and enhance environmental conservation through its focus on bioresource development and bio-entrepreneurship. The Centre often engage in research, development, and dissemination of bioresource-related technologies.
To ensure significant grassroots empowerment of the region through profitable exploitation and development of indigenous bioresources.
To sustain local capacity for efficient and effective research and development, field trials and promotion of biotechnology processes to achieve value addition on the development of indigenous bioresources into products to diversify the nation’s economy.
We employ a multidisciplinary approach that integrates molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and computational sciences. Our laboratories are equipped with modern facilities for experimental research, pilot production, and field testing.
Promote Sustainable Development: Utilize bioresources to foster economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability.
Improve Livelihoods: Enhance the well-being of communities through bioresource-based interventions.
