SEDC Explores Collaboration with NBRDA on Environmental Biotechnology and Erosion Control

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) has initiated discussions with the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) to leverage the Agency’s expertise in environmental biotechnology, particularly in plant-based erosion control and environmental data relevant to the South East.

Representing the Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Mark Okoye, the Executive Director, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Cliff Ogbede, led a delegation from the South East Development Commission (SEDC) on a courtesy visit to NBRDA on Tuesday.

The delegation was received by Dr. Julius Oyedele, Director of Environmental Biotechnology and Bioconservation, who represented the Director General of NBRDA, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha.

Discussions focused on obtaining up to date reports on plant-based erosion control as well as technological data on environmental factors relevant to the South East.

Both organisations agreed to establish a joint working committee to develop a framework for collaboration and facilitate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.
