NBRDA Strengthens Research–Policy Collaboration with National Assembly Library Trust Fund

The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has emphasised the importance of collaboration between research institutions and governance structures in promoting evidence-based policymaking and sustainable national development.

Prof. Mustapha stated this during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National Assembly Library Trust Fund (NALTF), Rt. Hon. Henry Nwawuba, at the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting focused on exploring potential areas of partnership between the NBRDA and the NALTF, particularly in knowledge exchange, capacity building, and policy-driven research aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.

According to Prof. Mustapha, bridging the gap between research and governance is critical to ensuring that scientific discoveries and biotechnological innovations are effectively translated into policies that improve lives and drive national growth.

“Biotechnology holds transformative potential for Nigeria’s socio-economic growth. By working with the National Assembly Library Trust Fund, we can ensure that research outputs are effectively translated into sound legislative actions and evidence-based governance,” he stated.

Rt. Hon. Nwawuba commended the NBRDA for its leadership in advancing biotechnology research and expressed willingness to work closely with the Agency to support the National Assembly with credible scientific data, policy briefs, and research insights.

The National Assembly Library Trust Fund serves as the official information and research hub of Nigeria’s National Assembly, housing millions of books, films, audio and video recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, and manuscripts.

The partnership with NBRDA is expected to enhance the quality of legislative research and promote science-informed decision-making across government institutions.
