
Indonesian Ambassador Visits NBRDA, Seeks Stronger Bilateral Cooperation in Biotechnology
The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, on Wednesday received the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Bambang Suharto, and his delegation at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Ambassador Suharto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Nigeria, especially in biotechnology, agriculture, health and industrial innovation. He emphasised that both countries share development priorities where biotechnology can play a transformative role.
During the visit, the Ambassador extended an invitation to NBRDA to visit leading research institutes and innovation centres in Indonesia to explore collaboration in research, capacity building, technology transfer and joint scientific projects.
He commended NBRDA for its contributions to national development, describing the Agency’s work as strategic and essential to Nigeria’s future competitiveness.
Prof. Mustapha thanked the Ambassador for the visit and expressed NBRDA’s readiness to deepen cooperation with Indonesia. He noted that such collaboration would expand opportunities for shared research, human capital development and deployment of biotechnology solutions across key sectors.
Both parties expressed optimism about future engagements that would further strengthen cooperation between Nigeria and Indonesia.
