The National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) has deepened its role as a driver of Nigeria’s biotechnology revolution.
Across agriculture, renewable energy, livestock, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sustainability, we are harnessing biotechnology to deliver solutions that improve lives, create jobs, and secure our nation’s future.
Our recent agreement with Shanghai Haiqi Industrial Company Ltd. to build Nigeria’s first insulin manufacturing facility marks a milestone for our nation. For the first time, Nigerians will have access to affordable, high-quality insulin produced locally; saving billions in imports, creating new jobs, and bringing hope to millions of families affected by diabetes.
More broadly, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that research does not remain on shelves but is transformed into tangible benefits for citizens. From climate-smart crops that strengthen food security to waste-to-energy technologies that power sustainability, every project at NBRDA is designed to uplift lives, empower farmers, and grow the Nigerian economy.
Through these efforts, NBRDA is reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a leading biotechnology hub in Africa, demonstrating how innovation can be harnessed to feed our nation, protect our environment, and drive economic growth.
I express my deep appreciation to all our partners who share this vision of leveraging biotechnology for shared prosperity. Your commitment to collaboration is invaluable as we work together to improve livelihoods and promote sustainable development across Nigeria.
This is only the beginning of greater innovations ahead. NBRDA is committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in biotechnology, and I invite you to join us on this transformative journey.
