NBRDA DG Honoured with Leadership Award of Excellence

The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has been honoured with the Leadership Award of Excellence by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The award recognises Prof. Mustapha’s exemplary leadership and outstanding contributions to public service and national development.

Presenting the award on Tuesday at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja, the National President of NANS, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, acknowledged Prof. Mustapha’s consistent support for initiatives that create opportunities for students and young researchers, as well as his contributions to advancing biotechnology education, research, innovation, skills acquisition and national development.

In a letter of commendation presented during the visit, NANS described Prof. Mustapha as an Icon of Public Service and National Development, noting that his administration has continued to promote research excellence, institutional growth, innovation and collaborations that benefit Nigerian students and the nation.

The association further acknowledged NBRDA’s expanding role in promoting biotechnology education, research commercialisation and capacity building, stating that the Agency’s interventions are helping to nurture the next generation of scientists and innovators while contributing to Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.

Receiving the award, Prof. Mustapha expressed appreciation to the leadership of NANS for the recognition, describing it as a tribute to the collective commitment and diligence of the management and staff of NBRDA.

He reiterated the Agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with tertiary institutions, student organisations and other partners to advance biotechnology education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Mustapha further encouraged Nigerian students to embrace biotechnology and innovation as catalysts for solving national challenges, creating opportunities and driving sustainable national development.

The NANS delegation also included the Chairman, NANS Independent Committee on ITF, SIWES and other Educational Interventions Verification and Monitoring, Comrade Abdulrasak Ibrahim, and other officials of the association.

Congratulations to the Director General on this well-deserved honour.
