NBRDA DG Reassures Staff on Welfare, Calls for Sustained Dialogue
The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA), Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has reassured staff of his commitment to their welfare while calling for sustained dialogue as the foundation for a peaceful and productive work environment.
He gave the assurance while addressing members of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), NBRDA Branch, during the union’s congress held on Wednesday at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Drawing from his experience in university administration and trade union engagement, Prof. Mustapha emphasised that open communication and mutual understanding remain the most effective means of resolving workplace concerns. He encouraged the union to maintain constructive engagement with management, and assured members that staff concerns would continue to receive due attention.
“Whatever challenges you have, let us resolve them together through dialogue. My doors remain open, and your welfare remains paramount to me,” he said.
The Director General noted that management has made significant progress in addressing many longstanding staff concerns, including career stagnation, while ongoing efforts are focused on other welfare initiatives aimed at strengthening staff competence and improving their wellbeing.
He further urged staff to serve as ambassadors of the Agency by embracing a culture of excellence, accountability and teamwork, while promoting the values, achievements and corporate image of NBRDA.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of NASU, NBRDA Branch, Comrade Charles Ola-Daniel, thanked the Director General for his inclusive leadership and responsiveness to staff concerns.
He described Prof. Mustapha as a leader who listens, understands the principles of trade unionism and has consistently demonstrated commitment to resolving staff-related issues.
Comrade Ola-Daniel noted that the cordial relationship between the union and management has strengthened industrial harmony within the Agency and contributed to staff confidence and organisational stability.
He assured the Director General of the union’s continued commitment to constructive engagement with management in promoting staff welfare and supporting the Agency’s mandate.
