
(NBRDA), DG Restated Agency’s Commitment to Harnessing Biotechnology
The Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, has restated the agency’s commitment to harnessing biotechnology to deliver solutions that improve livelihoods, create jobs, and drive Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Nigeria’s “Eagle Square”, Prof. Mustapha shared insights on how NBRDA is advancing cutting-edge research in agriculture, health, industry, and environmental sustainability. He highlighted ongoing projects, including local insulin production, production HIV drugs, and efforts to combat ginger blight.
He described biotechnology as “the lifeblood of modern economies,” powering industrial growth, enhancing global competitiveness, and fostering national stability.

Prof. Mustapha further emphasized his vision for Nigerian youth to become innovators, problem solvers, and industry leaders shaping the nation’s transformation through biotechnology.
